I love John the Baptist. I love him for so many reasons. He was rugged; a first century outdoorsman of sorts.But here is why I love John the Baptist more than anything; He was always pointing people to Jesus.
You see, John the Baptist created GREAT anticipation throughout all of Israel. “The King is coming! The King is coming! Wait for it! He’s coming!” Whoa. Gotta love passion like that. More than his passion, I love his constant pointing to Jesus. No sermon went by without his mentioning of the coming Messiah; no elders meeting, no sunday school class, no small group, no church service, no camp or retreat. His life was all about pointing people to the one who would soon come, who was greater than he. His life was about pointing people to Jesus and his life was marked by greatness.
Jesus even said it in Matthew 11:11-12 “I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist…” Now that’s what I call a compliment.
Is your life pointing to King Jesus? Is your ministry pointing students to King Jesus? Are your programs pointing students to King Jesus? Your mission trips? Your bible studies? Be intentional about Jesus. Point students to Jesus with your life, your words and your ministry.

Right on Jason. Reminds me of 1 Peter 3:15 “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have”. We cannot pass up or ignore these opportunities. Must keep our ears open so as not to miss those divine appointments.
