My Pops

There are a lot of things in life that I take pride in, and my family is one of them. One of the great things about being a new father is the renewed appreciation and love that arises for your family. I reflect back on all the great things that I did with my father growing up; going to races, baseball games, hunting, fishing, schooling him in basketball, building tree houses, etc… and can’t help but get excited about sharing those moments with my new family.

As a Student Pastor, I realize that we deal daily with students who don’t have that father figure in their life. There are students who come from homes where the father is absent, just doesn’t care has never been there. That’s why it’s so important to be united on all fronts, loving, caring and compassionate towards one another. When those students step in our midst, they should know they are loved and that we are there for them to love them, encourage them, go to their games or events, and show them Christ in every way possible.

To all of my leaders out there, LOVE on your students. Get to know them. INVEST in them. You may be the only figure in their life that represents Christ, so show it to them.

On a side note, here are a few photos of my pops (dad) in victory lane during his last few races. I’m proud of you pops.
